We held a very successful Hawaiian themed party on Saturday 5th August. Forty five members and friends attended and all agreed it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The food was excellent and there was plenty of fun with a wave machine, hoola hooping and limbo dancing. We took £300 on the bar and made a profit of £200. For photos (action and others!) take a look at our gallery page.
There are still some tickets available for this event.

AGM REMINDER Thursday 9TH MARCH .7.30 PM IN THE CLUBHOUSE
I hope to see as many of you as possible for our AGM this Thursday.
Your Committee has had various discussions over the past few months about how we can look to attract new members , increase participation and possible changes to our Clubhouse ,which would provide new and improved facilities both on and off court . I will refer to these discussions in more detail in my Chairman's Report at the AGM .
I wish to hear the views of as many Members as possible on their thoughts about the Club , what they like about VTC , what they feel could be improved , and what they would like the Club to provide by way of improved tennis and complementary facilities- e.g. Fitness/gym/ social. So please come along and have your say or contact me at anytime by email – email@example.com or on 07973 115 849.
I am also pleased to say that Toni Flanders , the Leicestershire Lawn Tennis Association Regional Participation Manager will be speaking to us at the AGM about her role. Toni has been working with Jon Siddon and myself over the past year or so , in looking to support our Club as much as possible in respect of our coaching requirements , attracting new members and in assisting us in implementing a Club Development plan for VTC.
I am certain you will find what Toni's address to be interesting and again , it would be great if as many Members as possible attend to show their support to her for all the help she is giving to VTC.
Well done to Chris and Leslie Meakin for organising a very successful Quiz Evening last week. Many thanks to Chris for being Quizmaster and Leslie for doing the excellent catering. The winning team were Jon Siddon, Simon Astill, David and Alex Cox and Nigel Voice-Jones.
Jon Siddon and his committee held a Halloween party for the juniors, which judging by the spooky goings on in the grounds, must have been thrilling.
The week before, we had the Boden sale at Karen's. Many thanks to Karen for all her hard work in hosting this, which, together with Tropic sales, cake sales and raffle has raised an amazing £732 as long as Boden don't have lots of returns. We also have to thank her many helpers who worked tirelessly. Not to mention live music from Chris Meakin on the piano. A very enjoyable and profitable day. Thanks to all who supported this event.
The working party on the 15th has to be the largest turnout we have ever had, due in part to the glorious weather and BBQ at the end. Thanks to John and Martin.
Don't forget the Senior Christmas party which will be on Saturday 17th December. We will be having another hamper for the raffle, so any contributions will be very welcome. Could those of you who won a trophy last year please return it to the clubhouse if you haven't already done so. Thank you.
Wednesday afternoon mix-in have so far had very good weather, with different players turning out each week. It will start from 1.30pm next week now that the clocks have gone back, but if you cannot make it until nearer 2pm, that is fine. Please come and join us if only for part of the time.
Congratulations to Rachel Astill, Erin O'Boyle and Dylan Sanghera. They have all been playing at Wimbledon this week having qualified for the Road to Wimbledon County Finals. Here they are at Wimbledon.
Congratulations to Craig and Katy Langton on their success in winning the Mixed Doubles Handicap Event at the Leicestershire County Tennis Championships on Sunday 5th August.
Well done also to Michael and Daniella Page on being Runners Up in the Final of the Plate Handicap.
